  • Knot Density

The knot density determines the fineness of your rug’s pattern. Higher densities create crisp, intricate motifs, while a lower count yields a more tactile, organic look. Not sure what’s right for your vision? We’re happy to advise on the best choice for your project’s style and expected use.

  • Motif Scale

Motif scale determines the proportion of the design’s pattern to the rug’s overall size. Enlarging or reducing motifs can dramatically alter the aesthetic and feeling of your piece—whether you want an impactful, oversized statement or a more delicate, detailed ground. We’ll help refine your concept for perfect balance and proportion.

  • size

Choosing the right size grounds your space and enhances the finished look. If you need guidance, our Rug Sizing Guide offers expert visual advice for every room type.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to receive a sample?

Once your design is received, it typically takes 3–4 weeks to receive your CAD renderings and 3-7 days for a handwoven strike-off sample for approval.

How long will my rug last?

In our studio, every piece is a future heirloom designed to last for years. Our rugs are crafted from resilient, natural materials designed to withstand daily life and become treasured heirlooms. We do not produce rugs in polyester or viscose. For hospitality projects, we can offer nylon by request.

Are rug pads necessary?

We highly recommend adding a rug pad, as it protects your investment, enhances comfort, and keeps your rug securely in place.

Do you offer installation services?

If your project requires a stair runner, professional installation is key. We offer installation services throughout Montana, and may be able to travel to select destinations upon request. Please inquire for details.

Can I return or exchange a custom rug?

All sales are final once you approve your sample. Our rigorous sample and quality control process—in both India (virtually) and our District Loom studio—ensures you’ll love your finished piece.

Can I pay in installments?

We invoice for the full amount; however, we’re happy to accommodate a split payment with a 50% deposit upfront and the balance due before your rug ships.

Do you offer trade pricing?

Yes, we support our trade partners. Learn more here.

More questions?

Visit our full FAQ page, or connect with our team for personal assistance.

Do I need to return my samples?

Strike-off samples that result in order placement are yours to keep. If no rug order is placed, the sample can be purchased for your design library.

How should I care for spills or everyday maintenance?

For guidance on cleaning and maintaining your rug, please refer to our Rug Care Guide.

What are your shipping and delivery details?

We serve clients nationwide. Each rug is shipped freight either to your receiving warehouse or directly to the project site if it’s ready. Prior to shipping, every rug is received and quality-checked at District Loom before it is sent to you.

Can I create a custom-shaped rug?

Absolutely. Share your vision, and we’ll work with you to bring custom shapes to life.

Do all rugs include binding?

Yes, all rugs are finished with binding unless otherwise requested. If you’d prefer no binding, please let us know when placing your order.

Can I customize or alter an existing vintage rug?

Yes. One-of-a-kind vintage rugs from our collection can be expertly altered, resized, or tailored to your exact needs. Learn more here.

Why choose natural fibers?

Natural fibers provide unparalleled texture, resilience, and a sense of grounding in the home. They age beautifully and carry forward the heritage of true hand-knotted craft.
