Vintage Persian Bakhtiari Scatter Rug
c1950
One-of-a-Kind
Dimensions: 4'8" x 7'4"
Material: 100% Wool
Construction: Hand Knotted
Pile: Low - medium
Curator Note: An uncommon Bakhtiari departing from the region’s customary repeating medallions in favor of a more open field of medium-scale floral bouquets. The shift softens the structure and lends a quieter rhythm, making it a rarer expression of an otherwise highly ordered weaving tradition.
Origin Region: Bakhtiari rugs are sturdy Persian weavings originating in Iran’s Zagros Mountain region. Hand-knotted from dense, resilient wool and traditionally colored with natural dyes, they are often recognized for their compartmentalized “garden” layouts alongside medallion, geometric, tree-of-life, and floral motifs. Both practical and decorative, they have long been valued as enduring examples of everyday artistry.
Disclaimer: This is a hand made, one-of-a-kind vintage item. It is common for slight variations in wear, color, and dimensions to occur. Depending on the room lighting and the light display setting on the viewing device, the colors of the rug may look slightly different in your home.
